Twisted Sisters Sweetz closes downtown Sioux Falls store

Local bakery Twisted Sisters Sweetz is closing on Phillips Avenue in downtown Sioux Falls.

Nikki Wallenberg opened the store at 317 S. Phillips Ave. three years ago with the help of his mother and sister as the coronavirus pandemic hit the state and shut down in-person business for months.

Wallenberg posted on Facebook Monday evening that she would be closing the store at the end of their lease, although they did not specify a date. The boutique is next to the Atoley Salon and Spa and across from the State Theater.

“Just gets harder with the pricing for everything and the difficulty in finding articles and such and family health stuff,” Wallenberg wrote. “Timing is key and unfortunately we opened at the onset of covid.”

All orders placed will be fulfilled. Gift certificates and class tickets will also be honored.

Wallenberg said she would continue to cook, but it would be in a different kitchen.

“I put my heart, my soul and everything I had into the shop,” she wrote. “So many sleepless nights, laughter, tears and joy. It really meant a lot to me.”
