Auto show, Mexican fiesta, fundraisers and supplies drive make up your weekend


The weekend is here and there are plenty of ways to spend your weekend.

Saturday is 20th Annual Abingdon Road Knights Motor Show from 8:00 a.m. and throughout the afternoon with money raised to benefit the Abingdon Food Pantry.

Registration takes place until noon with an entry fee of $ 15. If you decide to enter and bring a non-perishable item, you will receive two dollars off the entry.

A free t-shirt and scoreboard plaque will be given to the first 100 registrants. There will also be food available on the field and a 50/50 raffle with proceeds going to the Hedding Elementary School lunch program.

Saturday is also the Team Hope Walk for the benefit of those affected by Huntington’s disease and their families. Team Hope is the Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s largest national fundraising event.

The Team Hope Walk departs from the Lake Storey Pavilion at 10:00 a.m. and continues until 3:00 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on South Academy Street hosts 30th Mexican Fiesta Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The menu includes tacos or tostadas with beans or rice for $ 10 – which will include a drink. Plus hot dogs for the kids. Take out orders are also available.

There will also be live music, games, face painting, a pinata for the kids, a silent auction and a raffle.

Finally, Saturday is Abingdon-Avon High School Key Club seeks to restock Knox County Humane Society shelves with procurement campaign.

From 9:00 a.m. to noon, drop off food, toys, cleaning supplies, lightly used blankets, and monetary donations to Tompkins State Bank in Abingdon. Key Club members will be in the parking lot for you to walk through and hand in your donations.
